This mansion, high on a hill in North Tarrytown overlooking the Hudson, was home to four generations of Rockefellers, beginning with John D., founder of Standard Oil. Tours of the mansion (including a modern art collection), its splendid gardens, and its coach barn (housing vintage vehicles) are available by reservation through the Historic Hudson Valley organization. Your only chance of scoring a same-day opening is if you check with the Philipsburg Manor visitors center, (see listing below) from which Kykuit tours depart.
