Poe’s Tavern is named in honor of Edgar Allan Poe, who enlisted in the army under the pseudonym Edgar Allan Perry and was stationed at Fort Moultrie at the western end of Sullivan’s Island for thirteen months beginning in November of 1827. The restaurant is best known for great burgers and drinks.
