Boat Tours. Don’t miss the Morrow Point Boat Tours. A leisurely 90-minute boat tour by the National Park Service delivers a spectacular ride through the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Book early, because there’s limited space during the busy summer season. Two tours are scheduled each day June through mid-September.

Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Tubing. Outfitter/adventure company Wheelies and Waves enjoys joining its customers on paddle board and kayak expeditions at pristine reservoirs and high-altitude mountain lakes. You can’t go wrong if you get into the company’s four-wheel-drive vehicle and head up Scofield Pass to idyllic, cloud-hugging Emerald Lake, The outfitter also rents tubes, bikes and motorcycles. Tubing down the Slate River can be a relaxing, exhilarating experience. The Float Shack also rents tubes and paddle boards.
