Unique woodlands in Wawayanda State Park that are home to black bears;

From New York City and points east:
Go west on Rte. 80 or Rte. 46 to Rte. 23 north. Exit Rte. 23 north at Union Valley Rd. Follow Union Valley Rd. for 4 mi. until you reach a stop sign. Continue straight about ¾ mi. and turn left before the ShopRite shopping center. (You are still on Union Valley Rd.) Proceed 2 mi. and then bear left at the Y junction (West Milford Florist is on your left) onto White Rd. Continue 4/10 mi. until you reach a stop sign. Proceed straight up the mountain road, Warwick Tpke. Follow the road 4 mi. and turn left into Wawayanda State Park.
