Elizabeth A. Morton National Wildlife Refuge
The refuge is a 187-acre peninsula jutting into Noyack and Little Peconic bays. There are sandy and rocky beaches, and wooded bluffs overlooking the bays. Saltwater fishing from shore is permitted. Nesting platforms and boxes have been built for birds,including threatened or endangered species such as piping plover, least tern and roseate tern. Greenport Skate Park
To pay back the kids after a quiet Shelter Island nature walk, get on the North Ferry for the short ride to Greenport's Skate Park. The park challenges skateboarders, in-line skaters and bicyclists with a street course, a six-foot half pipe, a table top and a 12-foot vert. Annual memberships and day passes are available. more...

The Hamptons
